Seriously, it’s now three days since I got back from Club La Santa in Lanzarote and my body is still sore!
I think I may have overdone it slightly.
I didn’t know what to expect from a ‘Sports Resort’. Even now I’ve been a professional fitness trainer for many years, my bad experiences of school PE class still haunt me a little and the idea of being in a competitive sports environment made me slightly nervous.
So, when Club La Santa invited me, unsure whether it’d be my thing, I agreed to just three days.
I knew Club La Santa is really popular among atheletes, especially triathletes (many of the sports top names train there) – so I wasn’t surprised the facilities for swimming, running and cycling were world class – but I was surprised to find so much for someone like me who just loves to move, challenge myself and take care of my body (and mind).
In fact, once I was out there in Lanzarote and saw what was on offer I was like a kid in a sweetie shop and basically tried to squeeze at least a week’s worth of fun into those three days!
Here’s what I got up to:
😀Day 1: 5k group run, Fitness Pilates, Stand Up Paddleboarding lesson, Cross Training class, Bodypump.
😅Day 2: 3k group run, HIIT Cycling, Circuit Class, Release & Unwind class.
😴Day 3: Yoga Flow class, Kayaking lesson, Cross Training class, Hatha Yoga, Ultimate Abs.
After that last abs class I definitely had nothing left in the tank!
Of course, it’s all optional though, you’re free to do as much or as little as you like, I just kept rocking up to those activities because I was loving it.
But it wasn’t all about getting a sweat on. The best way I can describe the vibe at Club La Santa is a blend of sports training camp, high-end health club and luxury holiday resort.
Along with world class facilities such as the three 50 metre laned swimming pools, ten tennis courts, running track and full sized football pitch, they have several outdoor fitness class studios, a spin studio, aerial yoga studio, a wellness spa and of course a gym – that’s to mention just a few!
As a holiday resort, there’s a gorgeous leisure pool surrounded by loungers, five restaurants, a crazy golf course, several children’s play areas and more.
My favourite part was the lagoon. It’s so beautiful and the water is really calm, making it perfect for a beginner like me to practice kayaking and SUP (they also offer windsurfing).
I’m kind of gutted I didn’t arrange to stay longer, but hopefully I’ll get to return sometime.
Apparently, on average guests to go back to Club La Santa seven times!
So I’m clearly not the only one who thought it was something pretty close to paradise.
