NEW BEGINNINGS

Welcome to these short but sassy workouts designed for beginners, returners, and also for more advanced people on days when they need a simple, low-impact session.

In each workout I'll use just one piece of equipment. But don't worry if you don't have any kit at all, you can easily improvise with items from around the house - here are some suggestions:

Kettlebell - large bottle of water.
Dumbbells - two tins or small water bottles.
Band - anything stretchy you can tie in a loop e.g. old leggings or tights.
Gym ball - sit on something squishy like your sofa or bed and for the moves where I lift the ball hold a cushion or pillow.

As for how heavy your weights should be, this totally depends on your own individual level of strength and experience. For absolute beginners the items listed above will be challenging enough to start with. Once you're ready to start using weights 3-5kg is a good weight for dumbbells and 4-6kg for a kettlebell.

I buy most of my kit from Amazon. These are items I use:
Cast iron kettlebell
Hex dumbells
Bands
Gym ball

Be sure to watch the intro video below before starting, then just hit play on the workout of your choice and follow me!

As I mentioned in the intro video above, each workout includes a short warm-up, but some days you may need a longer warm up. You can find extra warm-up videos here.

The videos also include a sort post-workout stretch, but I highly recommend you spend longer taking care of your flexibilty and mobility. My Lythe Leopard series is also great for beginners wanting to stretch and tone. Alternating the Lythe Leopard workouts with these would be an excellent plan.

Anytime you need help, advice or a motivation boost simply pop a post in our lovely Facebook group - support is always waiting for you there, you're not in this alone!
