Putting time and effort into regular exercise and not seeing the results you desperately want is a very frustrating experience. There are several reasons this can happen, a common one if for people to have chosen a type of exercise or a fitness programme that isn’t right for their goals.

It’s super-important to first of all get clear on what your goals are – what is the main “why” behind your training?

For example, all too many people start running because they want to shed fat, but lose sight of their reasons and get carried away into running very long distances, which means doing a type of training which might not be optimal when fat loss is the main priority.

This is fine, of course, if they’re enjoying the long distance running and fat loss is no longer their main reason for doing it. But if not seeing the fat shift is making them miserable and so they keep adding ever more miles to their training in a bid to shift it until they get injured, or ill, or just can’t take it anymore and give up on exercise entirely, obviously that’s not good and it would’ve been better if they’d chosen a type of training that was more in-line with what they wanted to achieve.
